Looking for an escape from covid-19 cabin fever? This "pocket trawler" is perfect for day trips and extended cruises alike. The efficient and reliable Volvo Penta engine uses just 1.5 gal/hr of diesel fuel at 7 knot cruise. Whimsy's compact exterior and bow thruster make docking easy, while the large windows offer great visibility and a sense of spaciousness inside.
We've owned Whimsy for four years and thoroughly enjoyed our travels with her, both near and far. Currently moored on Lake Union in Seattle, we've taken her as far north as Desolation Sound and the Canadian Gulf Islands and as far south as Olympia. Local trips have included a night or two at Winslow and Blake Island, or at anchor off Seward Park on Lake Washington. We're getting up in years and were planning to sell Whimsy in the next year or two, but covid-19 has impacted this year's cruising plans so we decided to make her available now to the right buyer—one who'll give Whimsy the same loving care we have.
Whimsy comes fully equipped with everything you need to go boating from day one. We can also provide personalized, on-water training if you wish.
The salon is roomy. The table moves forward and back, as well as down to convert to a bed. There's lots of storage underneath the seats.
The bright and efficient galley includes a propane stove, oven, microwave, and refrigerator with small freezer compartment.
The custom made captain's chair is on an adjustable swivel, so you can find your perfect position and height.
The flybridge has three comfortable seats. It's a nice place to steer on warm days. If it's too sunny, put up the bimini.
The Sea Wise davit system makes it easy to raise and lower the dinghy, even with the outboard motor attached.
The 200 HP Volvo Penta TAMD41P-A diesel engine has never let us down.
Go to the football game by boat, and anchor in Union Bay with other fans.
Join a flotilla if you'd like companionship and mentoring on a longer trip. (Whimsy's on the far right in this picture from Desolation Sound, rafted up with ten other boats.)
You can tie up to a mooring ball for free at Butchart Gardens. That's Whimsy in the background.
Blake Island is a great destination for a shorter trip in Puget Sound. Walk the miles of trails, or enjoy the salmon dinner at Tillicum Village.
Even in the winter, Andrews Bay in Seattle is a pleasant destination for anchoring overnight.
The San Juan Islands are full of interesting towns and coves. Sucia Island ranks near the top for beauty.
An active northwest Camano owners group has a website where friendly people answer your questions. They hold an annual three-day rendezvous.
The owners compare decor and improvements and learn useful maintenance tips. Whimsy's unique feature is that the curtains cover the front as well as the back and sides.
